Kingston Pen Standard Tour

Step inside the walls of Canada’s oldest penitentiary and explore the living and working areas, some dating back to the 1830s.  Hear the personalized accounts from former staff and learn about the history and the daily routines, including stories of escapes, riots and everything in between on this 1.5-hour guided tour.

Every guest must have a ticket including children 0-4. Those 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult or guardian.

Please arrive no earlier than 15 minutes before scheduled tour time as early access will not be granted. Guests will be required to wear masks, follow physical distancing, safety protocols and to stay with their guides.

Guests should be prepared for the tour by wearing appropriate footwear for indoor, outdoor and uneven surfaces and are encouraged to bring an umbrella if desired for protection from rain or sun. Tour routes cover indoor and outdoor spaces and operate in a variety of weather conditions.  Please be prepared for conditions on the day of your tour.

Guests are asked to postpone their visit if they have developed symptoms of COVID-19, have been in close contact with someone who has symptoms, or have arrived in Canada within 14 days of their planned visit.
