Kingston Pen Architectural Tour

Dive deep into the early history of the buildings, the architects and planners responsible for drafting and building the institution, and the design philosophy of Canada’s oldest Penitentiary. A balanced blend of the architectural integrity and stylistic inclusions will be shared throughout this 1.5-hour tour, with opportunities to photograph the magnificent exterior and interior constructions. Please arrive no earlier than 15 minutes before the scheduled tour time as early access will not be granted. Guests will be required to wear masks, follow physical distancing, safety protocols and to stay with their guides. Kingston Pen Extended Tour

This 2.5-hour tour covers the Standard Tour content as well as a more in-depth look behind the walls exploring the history of Kingston Penitentiary and Regional Treatment Centre.  Discover more of the site and hear about the history of additional areas, such as the hospital, gymnasium, and school.  With smaller group sizes the Extended Tour provides greater opportunity to connect with retired corrections staff and tour guides. This tour is designed for a mature audience and recommended for guests of 12 years of age and up. Those 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult or guardian. If a child 11 and under must attend the tour, please make a note in the special requirements field below. Please arrive no earlier than 15 minutes before the scheduled tour time as early access will not be granted. Guests will be required to wear masks, follow physical distancing, safety protocols and to stay with their guides. The 1.5-hour Kingston Pen Film Tour explores the history of filmmaking in Kingston with a specific focus on films made at Kingston Penitentiary. Guests will visit various areas of the site and learn about how they were used in film, the different productions that filmed here, and about how these films were made. Pumpkinferno Kingston

This fall, Fort Henry National Historic Site will transform into an enchanted wonderland where guests will tour a spectacular outdoor experience of glowing pumpkins along a pathway inside the walls of this historic site under the night sky. Open nightly from October 1st to October 31st, 2021. Every guest must have a ticket including children 0-4. Guests will be required to wear masks when 2 metre distancing can not be maintained and when indoors (Retail store & Washrooms). Guests must follow safety protocols. Please arrive no earlier than 5 minutes before the scheduled entry time. Pumpkinferno Upper Canada Village

Take an after-dark tour through a spectacular outdoor exhibit of 7,000 artistically designed and hand carved pumpkins.  This multi-award-winning, one-of-a-kind event takes visitors through a mesmerizing world of illuminated pumpkins, all beautifully displayed in a myriad of eclectic themes along the streets and paths of Upper Canada Village’s historic landscape. The carved pumpkins you will see at Pumpkinferno are realistic, artificial pumpkins, whose forms have been shaped from molds of real pumpkins, that come as “blank canvasses” ready to be designed and carved.
